Avicenna MD, LLC is a medical device company developing a novel device that allows percutaneous placement of a transcatheter heart valve bioprosthesis into a pre-existing mechanical heart valve. The program is led by Dr. Ali Khoynezhad, a cardiovascular surgeon with 30 years of clinical experience and national principal investigator on more than 20 industry-sponsored device trials. Dr. Khoynezhad has performed over 3000 cardiac procedures, including more than 1100 heart valve operations, and holds multiple patents in cardiovascular device design. As Chief Medical Officer, he leads the clinical and design strategy behind the valve — translating three decades in the operating room into a device intended to address the limitations surgeons and patients currently face with existing mechanical valve options.

Avicenna MD is led by Nazila Khoynezhad, a commercial attorney who built and ran her own law practice in Dubai, UAE at times leading a team of nine attorneys serving clients including Siemens and Credit Suisse. As CEO and business-owner, she oversees the company's business, legal, and operational strategy, guiding the venture from concept through the regulatory and corporate structures required to bring a medical device to market.
